19th C. Butler’s Tray on Stand — Marked

$950

A well-crafted restored 19th-century English butler’s tray on folding stand in solid mahogany, exhibiting high-quality hand workmanship throughout. An elegant and versatile form, this piece is suitable as a butler’s tray, bar table, serving piece, or decorative accent.

The tray is constructed with mitered dovetailed corners and features shaped handholds cut directly into the sides. The original folding X-form stand is made from a darker, denser mahogany with subtle purple undertones, providing visual contrast to the tray and excellent stability when open. It is also stamped “H. Harrison” on both stretchers. The stand folds smoothly for storage.

The piece has undergone a professional restoration, addressing prior repairs and stabilizing the structure using only traditional methods. The surface was refinished using Sutherland Welles polymerized tung oil, producing a durable, low-sheen finish appropriate for both functional use and period character.
