A finely crafted antique Federal revival mahogany work table or sewing stand, likely dating to the early 20th century in the manner of the refined Sheraton designs produced in Boston and Salem during the Federal period.

The form closely follows the work of the Seymour school and other eastern Massachusetts cabinetmakers of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Constructed almost entirely by hand, the table features a shaped rectangular top over two cockbeaded drawers, flanked by turned corner columns and supported by reeded and turned tapering legs with finely incised details on the elongated bulbous feet.

The piece has been carefully restored. The shellac finish was refreshed and hand-polished before receiving a protective coat of Renaissance Wax. Missing drawer knobs were recreated from the surviving example using a custom resin casting to match the surviving hardware. The table presents beautifully while remaining honest to its history and prior repairs one leg.

A versatile size, equally suitable as a writing table, lamp table, sewing stand, or sophisticated accent piece.
