An example of a project that brought together an online marketplace under the radar find, deep academic and market research and a super light touch on restoration resulting in a refreshed unique example of a later Biedermeier era form from the mid 19th century. Only minor issues with a small area of lifting veneer and small marks needing a light refresh of the French polish to protect the historic surface.
Biedermeier Satin Birch Center Table
Refreshing, not stripping, the French polish was necessary to seal off and consolidate historic marks like these.
Super light refresh of the French polish just to seal off old chips in the top and the ebonized edge.
Now glowing.
These are ebonized carved wood. Outstanding craftsmanship.
Hercules!
Ready for it's closeup!
Found during my research. Same table? Or just it's pair? We'll never know since this was an online find from someone downsizing and looking to get rid of furniture they acquired over the last two decades.
